Course Overview

You’ve equipped leaders to navigate organizational complexity. Now discover how life coaching deepens that impact, helping clients flourish across every dimension of their lives, not just their roles.

The Life Certification Bridge Course is designed for graduates of The Essentials of Leadership Coaching who sense God’s invitation to serve the whole person. In just 5 focused weeks (10 live hours), you’ll gain the ontological perspective, frameworks, and certification hours needed to earn your Certified Professional Life Coach (CPLC) designation – PCCI’s permanent credential requiring no renewal.

This isn’t starting over. It’s building on your ICF foundation to explore the “being” side of coaching: identity, values, purpose, vision, well-being, and the inner work that transforms how clients show up everywhere. You’ll integrate proven models like Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, Fowler’s Stages of Faith, PERMA, and SCARF while maintaining your Christ-centered approach to human flourishing.

Whether you’re called to coach emerging professionals navigating career transitions, support clients through major life decisions, or help individuals design lives of meaning and balance, this course equips you to partner with the whole person, not just the leader within them.

What You’ll Accomplish in This Course

This course delivers the essential distinctions between life and leadership coaching, equipping you with frameworks and competencies specific to organizational contexts.

  • Explore how Christian principles inform human flourishing and where secular psychology both aligns with and differs from biblical truth about well-being and transformation.

  • Master ontological coaching that addresses identity, values, purpose, and meaning-making – coaching who clients are being, not just what they’re doing.

  • Apply Maslow’s Hierarchy and Fowler’s Stages of Faith to understand client development and distinguish between surface wants and deeper needs.

  • Integrate PERMA and SCARF models from positive psychology and neuroscience to coach for well-being, motivation, and psychological safety.

  • Guide clients through vision, purpose, and mission clarification using proven frameworks that connect daily choices to eternal significance.

  • Coach for life balance using the Worship, Work, Play framework that moves beyond secular approaches to honor spiritual, vocational, and renewal rhythms.

  • Master in-the-moment (process) coaching that leverages present awareness, emotions, and energy shifts to create transformative breakthroughs.

  • Develop your coaching niche and personal statements that position you effectively in the life coaching marketplace while expressing your unique calling.

Course Breakdown

Building on your leadership coaching foundation, each week introduces ontological perspectives and life coaching frameworks that deepen your ability to partner with clients pursuing holistic transformation and purpose-driven living.

Week 1: Foundation & Distinction

Master ICF Core Competency #8 (Facilitates Client Growth) with focus on translating awareness to sustainable action. Explore the critical distinction between needs and wants using Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, then integrate Fowler’s Stages of Faith Development to understand how clients make meaning. Begin niche development for life coaching positioning.

Week 2: Vision, Purpose & Mission

Move beyond goal-setting to help clients articulate their overarching life vision, core purpose, and season-specific missions. Practice the Worship-Work-Play framework for coaching clients toward authentic balance. Learn to facilitate conversations that connect daily choices to deeper meaning and calling.

Week 3: Well-Being & Human Flourishing

Examine the intersection of coaching and mental well-being through ICF research and the PERMA model (Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Accomplishment). Understand how to coach around well-being while maintaining appropriate boundaries, and explore how Christian principles both align with and transcend positive psychology frameworks.

Week 4: Neuroscience, Motivation & Safety

Apply the SCARF model (Status, Certainty, Autonomy, Relatedness, Fairness) to understand what creates threat versus reward responses in clients. Master “coaching in-the-moment” (process coaching) that leverages present awareness for transformation. Discover how Jesus modeled this approach in Gospel encounters.

Week 5: Integration & Advanced Coaching

Synthesize your learning through the three qualitative markers of advanced coaching: coach the person, elevate the partnership, and expand presence. Explore industry trends, plan your next development steps toward earning your ICF credential, and commit to the sacred work of walking alongside clients pursuing lives of wholeness, purpose, and faith-aligned flourishing.
