Course Overview

Leaders today face unprecedented complexity. Organizations need leaders who can navigate uncertainty, sustain vision, and lead people with clarity, resilience, and purpose. Leadership coaching equips coaches to partner with those leaders in meaningful and transformative ways.

The Essentials of Leadership Coaching course prepares coaches to work effectively in the leadership context by integrating ICF Core Competencies with practical leadership frameworks and coaching models. Participants explore the realities leaders face in a rapidly changing world while learning approaches such as the GROW model and Boyatzis’ Intentional Change Theory to support meaningful growth and change.

Throughout the course, coaches learn to partner with leaders around core areas of leadership development including vision, purpose, and mission, while also addressing challenges such as burnout, decision pressure, and organizational complexity. Participants also explore the influence of culture—including geographical, generational, and organizational culture—on leadership and coaching conversations.

By the end of the course, through in-class coaching and learning application, coaches gain understanding and confidence to step into the unique and rewarding work of leadership coaching—partnering with leaders who shape teams, organizations, and communities.
